First & Second round of the Presidential Elections..

Category : Izmir, daily doings, istanbul, news

The count of 367 couldn’t be found so they cannot finalize the vote. The second round will be on the 9th of May.

Which reminds me that on the 22nd of July, in the scorching hell-like summer of Turkey, those who love their country and those who do not will march to their respective ballots and cast their precious votes. Every vote counts.

It only took Erdogan 2 hours and 15 minutes of talking to the military to make them remove their warning off their website.

Yesterday, hundreds of thousands marched the streets of Manisa, Canakkale, Marmaris and Duisburg – Germany in an effort to continue what was started in Ankara and Istanbul.

The highlight of yesterday was hearing about the politicians getting physical during one of their get together. They should be chained to their seats. It’s hysterical. One AKP representative asked one CHP representative if they “Orgasmed each time they brought up a counter motion or proposal”. I hear a CHP-R threw a mobile phone at an AKP-R. Who needs soap operas when all you can do is watch the news.

Both ANAP and DYP will be joining efforts and collecting their happy bunch under the same roof. Their new party will be called Demokratik Parti “DP” (I’m sure you can translate that one alone ;) ) and now everyone is waiting for the same kind of move from CHP and DSP.

I will be in Izmir on the 13th for mothers day and the Izmir Rally. That one is going to be a blast.

[...] The question is, were the Presidential protests a waste of time? Erkan’s Field Diary lists all of the international news coverage on the subject, so in that sense Turkey’s citizenry was heard. Ignore Me If You Can fills us on in on the new found action of the parliament and the news that the general elections have been moved up: It looks like we’re getting the elections that we’ve been waiting for sooner than we thought. This is when we will see what the people really want. Hopefully, more than 30% of Turkey will have finally gotten the message and will go use their legal right and voice their opinion at the ballot. This time there is no room to screw this up. [...]
