I just got back from the most powerful event of my life.
I was at the protest today, the rally that everyone’s talking about. You can find the BBC article here and the CNN article here. I hear they were actually showing the rally live. They got the number of participants wrong though, Turkish press has already reported that there were 1000.000 confirmed and that was just in Caglayan. There was an approximate of 3000.000 participants at the protest.
Right now, I’m feeling the pain of having yelled and marched from 10.30AM to 6PM. I need to nurse my sun burn and get to bed before I drop. I will be blogging extensively about the experience tomorrow though.
I don’t care what anyone says, it was by far the best event of my life and I don’t regret being there at all.

I LOVE LIVING IN AUSTRALIA….. when elections happen there is no fighting, small protests about IR laws and thats about it.. its not like the rest of the world with all this hoo haa and big spending by politicians to say “i promise bullshit and more bullshit that I’m not going to do”. if one side loses no one cares because in the end.. labor or liberal they are all the same.. but the rest of the world is crazy.. you have in the US neo cons and liberals.. ie eg republicans and democrats … They do what big business and lobbiests tell them to do.. in Africa they have no government just thugs keeping thugs in power with violence.. and in Europe.. you guys are the craziest from liberals to communists to fascist to any party under the sun.. all i know in aust is labor or liberal who cares i still pay my taxes and get nothing for it because we still pay to use our roads we pay taxes on top of taxes when we buy food clothing petrol water.. and idil.. no country in the world separates religion and policies .. every country has a religious zealots in power.. they use the word unethical instead of its not good because god said so.. but in aust we have its UN-AUSTRALIAN thrown at us.. like i said to you many times.. politics dont tickle my fancy. Its good to hear you had fun for a change. too da loo
[...] Lacking the ability to directly comment on the Presidential elections, the Turkish people took to the streets. Many bloggers gave accounts of the protests, from Me and Others describing the people watching to Istanbul Street Style covering the fashion choices of the participants. Idil who writes for Ignore Me If You Can and Metroblogging:Istanbul gave the most complete coverage of the protests, describing the day as “the most powerful event of my life”. If you get a chance I highly recommend looking at her Metroblogging:Istanbul post, it has a nice narrative of the protest march and an unusual editor’s note: I realize some might feel the need to comment negatively regarding the actual rally/protest. This isn’t the medium for it. What you find here is an account of the day. My day. I tried to explain what happened the best I could because it was a historical day for Turkey, it was the biggest rally in the history of this republic and is a day to remember. If you’re going to go all political and negative on me, please do not bother. Thank you for your attention
