Taksim, Metblogs style.

Category : daily doings, istanbul

Yesterday, when watching yet another downloaded episode of ‘The O.C.’ the power cut off at home. It’s been more than 24 hours and it’s still not back as of yet. In the evening I started to get ready for an outing with my fellow bloggers @ MetBlogs. We we’re invited for an interview with one of Turkeys leading newspapers (more information on that once the article comes out, I’d hate to look like a liar.).
It was planned to meet up earlier so that we could all get to know each other so after calling everyone up and checking where they all we’re, I ended up taking off for Taksim at 6.30pm.
I arrived in Taksim at 7 and immediatly spotted David and Erkan standing right next to the Burger King (like they were told to do so by me.)
David then tried to lure us down the streets of Taksim to drink a beer but then got us all lost and then he lost Sven and Erkan. Or Erkan lost David and I. I’m not too sure what went on there.
We then all went to a simit place because Erkan was hungry (something about a never ending diet that he still needs to fill me in about).
After sharing lots of mafia gossip and istanbul anecdotes, we then proceeded to go meet our journalist and Seyda.
We met up with the journalist infront of..Burger King and all went to Pia.
It was a great evening, it seems that the Metblogs team (or those who we’re present) bonded very well. I’m sure it’ll work wonders for the website.
The interview went very well and we all left Pia around 10.30. David insisted in taking our pictures. I tried to bribe him with various things like beer and turkish belly dancers but to no avail. Once that man has a camera in his hand, it’s hard to stop him.

Thanks Idil, you didn’t mention how I misguided you in the quest for Pia:)) By late night that day, I have realized that for the last 10 days I had only had breakfast and sandwiches and my body could not take any more! I am ok. now:)

Sounded like fun but I had to smile, I used to meet friends outside Burger King, Taksim Square … you made me all homesick for Istanbul. :)
